To provide a specialist rehabilitation service for post-operative plastic surgery patients (children & adults) following burn contracture release and correction of congenital deformities. To work closely with both the Plastic Surgeon and Plastics Dressings Team to optimize the patient’s outcome of surgery. This will involve pre-operative and post-operative assessment of patients, to include both objective and functional hand assessment, treatment planning and functional rehabilitation. The position will be based both on the ward and in an out-patient setting. Reports To: Rehab Team Leader Minimum Commitment: 3 Months About Mercy Ships: As the largest non-government hospital ship in the world, Mercy Ships vessel the m/v Africa Mercy is a most unique platform to bring modern standard health care to the forgotten poor of Africa. The third deck of the ship contains the specialized surgical hospital with 68 in-patient beds, an ICU, 5 operating rooms, PACU and full service lab, radiology with CT scan and pharmacy. Our hospital ships provides free lifesaving surgeries for people where medical is nearly non existent. Mercy Shipswill be docked in Douala, Cameroon from 27 August 2017 – 05 June 2018.
